Acer Aspire One (AA1):
Installing and running Windows XP
Getting
Windows XP installed on AA1 appeard to be quite straightforward.
You will
need 2nd computer to do so.
Here is the
guide(PDF,47k,EN):
·
Get a distribution package of WinXP (presumably with integrated SP2 or SP3). I assume to
not tweak it with something like nLite - you always
can do it after installation with XPlite (http://www.litepc.com/xplite.html).
·
Make bootable WinPE flash
stick with Active@ Boot Disk Creator of Active@ Boot Disk 4 Suite (http://www.ntfs.com/)
·
Copy I386
folder from your distribution package of WinXP to
flash stick
·
Go to AA1 BIOS and make USB drive your first
boot device. Boot AA1 from flash.
·
After booting go to Programs->Partition
Manager. Select Partition C: - largest of your AA1 hard drive and
quickformat it with FAT32 as that greatly improves the speed of the
system.
·
Open
embedded Explorer or use robocopy internal command with
/mir flag from command promt
(500 Mb/min transfer speed!) and copy I386 folder from flash to I386 folder on
your hard drive
·
Go to I386 folder on AA1 !!!hard drive!!!
and run winnt32.exe
·
Proceed with initial copy of the WinXP files
·
After abrupt termination of copy process – all necessary
files have been copied to hard drive – reboot the computer. !!!IMPORTRANT!!! Don`t remove the flash at that stage!!!
·
After rebooting ordinary XP installation process
is in progress. Choose “install to existing partition”. But be sure to specify largest AA1 hard drive partition. After copying
all files and making all preparations you will be prompted to reboot. Now
remove your flash and reboot.

Now the mystery begins. With a probability of 99
% AA1 won`t boot. Leave him alone for now.
·
Go to your 2nd computer and make bootable WinPE flash stick with Active@ Boot Disk Creator again. You
don`t need existing content of the flash anymore.
·
Copy boot.ini file from the package
to the flash
·
Reboot AA1 from WinPE
flash and rename or remove boot.ini file in AA1 hard drive root.
·
Copy boot.ini file from the flash
to the root AA1.
·
Then remove the flash and reboot AA1.
·
Now Windows XP will start and complete installation
process.
·
After installing WinXP
you need to install the drivers. Go to Acer AA1 support site and get the driver
files (http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/as_one_110.html)
·
Now again – it`s the mystery with Acer AA1
drivers.
-
to install Intel chipset drivers - use infinst_autol.exe with –OVERALL flag from command promt from the package above;
- to install card reader - unpack
drivers supplied by Acer to any directory. Then insert any card in it and after
prompting – specify above directory with the XP drivers
- to install Network adapter use the
drivers in the package (Lan.zip)

дистрибутив WinXP, предположительно с интегрированным СП2 или

Скопируйте
I386 папку с
дистрибутива на флешку
·
В БИОСе AA1
установите флешку как первое загрузочное устройство.
Загрузите АА1 с этой флешки
·
После загрузки запустите из Programs->Partition Manager. Выберите Partition C: -самый большой раздел - на АА1 жестком диске и quickformat ее в FAT32.
·
Откройте
встроенный експлорер или используйте команду robocopy с ключем /mir из командной строчки
(копирует со скоростью 500 Мб/мин) и скопируйте папку I386 с флешки
в папку I386 на АА1 жесткий диск
·
Из
папки I386 на !!!жестком диске!!! запустите
winnt32.exe
·
Запустится
процесс первоначального копирования файлов
·
После
внезапной остановки процесса копирования – все необходимые файлы уже
скопированы – перезагрузите компьютер. !!!ОБРАТИТЕ ВНИМАНИЕ!!! Не вытаскивайте флешку
на этой стадии!!!
·
После
перезагрузки запустится обычный процесс установки WinXP. Выберите “install to existing
partition”. Удостоверьтесь,
что для установки выбран самый большой раздел на АА1
жестком диске. После копировании
файлов и проведения начальных настроек при появлении предложения на
перезагрузку вытащите флешку и перезагрузите АА1
·
В этом
месте начинаются чудеса. С вероятностью 99% АА1 не
загрузится. Оставьте его пока в покое
·
На
другом компьютере сделайте загрузочную WinPE флешку с помощью программы Active@ Boot Disk Creator снова. Прежнее содержимое
флешки больше не понадобится
·
Скопируйте
файл boot.ini из package
на флешку
·
Загрузите
АА1 с флешки и переименуйте
или удалите файл boot.ini из корня жесткого
диска АА1
·
Скопируйте
файл boot.ini с флешки в корень жесткого диска АА1
·
Удалите флешку и
загрузите АА1
·
Теперь Windows XP загрузится и начнется собственно процесс
установки
·
После
установки системы нужно установить драйверы. Они здесь: (http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/as_one_110.html)
· Чтобы установить Intel chipset drivers – используйте infinst_autol.exe с –OVERALL из командной строчки из package

Чтобы установить кард-ридер
– распакуйте драйверы в любую папку. Затем воткните любую карточку в картовод и после запроса на установку драйверов укажите
папку с драйверами под XP
из распакованных.
· Чтобы установить сетевой адаптер – используйте драйверы из package (Lan.zip)
